2019 Ford Explorer Spotlight

Some people say that the ongoing SUV craze started in 1991, when the first Ford Explorer hit the streets. Today, there is a ton of competition from almost every brand; But the Explorer’s total package of good looks, power, technology, and cargo space, keeps it riding high as the best-selling SUV in its class. We expect the 2019 Ford Explorer to keep up the tradition and from what we see, there’s no reason to believe it won’t.

For starters, it’s beautiful. Every side is its good side. From its distinctive grille, LED headlights, sleek side panels, and eight exterior colors to choose from, to its roomy three row interior with available leather treatments, the Explorer is one attractive automobile. Then there’s all the choices Explorer offers. Without a lot of effort, you can find a 2019 Explorer that will perfectly fit all your needs.

It’s All About Choices…

You can’t always get what you want, unless of course, you are considering a 2019 Ford Explorer as your next SUV. It starts with selecting one of five different trims, each with its own personality and feature emphasis. At one end of the spectrum is the base Explorer trim, a solid, practical, transportation solution. At the other end is the luxurious Platinum trim packed with advanced convenience and comfort features. In between are trims designed to deliver a variety of SUV experiences. Your toughest decision is deciding which of the performance and technology features are a best fit for you.

Your Choices

Let’s talk power first. The Explorer has your choice of three powerful engines to chose from. The best-in-class 3.5L EcoBoost® V6 combines turbocharging and direct injection to generate 365 hp and a powerful 350 lb-ft of torque. It comes standard on the Platinum and Sport trims and is coupled with standard intelligent 4WD with Terrain Management SystemTM and Hill Decent Control TM. Rounding out the powerplants are the 2.3L EcoBoost® 4 cylinder that kicks out 285 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque and a 3.5L V6 that produces 290 hp and 255 lb-ft of torque. Depending on how your Explorer is equipped, it can tow 2,000 lbs. to 5,000 lbs.

Then there’s the technology; you can stay connected with SYNC 3®, talk to Alexa, get navigation with voice instructions, and drive safer with adaptive cruise control with brake assist and lane keeping system. You can even let the Explorer back itself into a perpendicular parking slot, and that’s just the beginning. The Explorer is chock full of advanced technologies both in the cabin, under the hood, and under the chassis.

In the interior, about the only thing all trims share is the ability to seat seven people in comfort and provide over 80 cubic feet of cargo space (with the seats down). Other than that, there are different upholstery materials including Nirvana leather, different sized touchscreens, panoramic sunroof, different accent materials, and so much more. Another thing that remains constant across all trims is Ford’s attention to exceptional fit and finish.
